NVIS Antenna NLA 3050
For shipborne applications, standard HF antennas will normally be used in whip or wire design for long range communication. Distances between 0 km and 500 km require a near vertical incident sky wave (NVIS) antenna. For this application, HMK offers the NLA 3050, an NVIS loop antenna system with a built-in ATU 3050 L.
The NLA 3050 features a magnetic loop antenna, which can be mounted at any appropriate top deck position of a ship. The magnetic characteristics of the antenna system provide a far superior signal-to-noise ratio compared to whip antennas, due to decoupling near field electrostatic noise sources.
